About our Service, Henna Paste & Aftercare!

We use only natural henna and premium ingredients for our henna paste. No chemical additives or color dyes.  Don't worry, henna is not painful in any way, it feels more like a relaxing spa treatment and it conditions the skin!

We happily disclose all ingredients. Our henna formula combines natural powdered henna leaves with essential oils (let us know if you have perfume allergies), sugar, lemon juice, citric acid (natural preservative) and menthol (from mint). This natural, fragrant and soothing paste is applied onto the skin with a soft plastic cone (similar to icing a cake). Once applied, the henna paste should remain on the skin at least one hour, but three or more is best (for the very darkest color, keep your henna on overnight!). An (optional) mixture of lemon juice and sugar is applied to your design to seal it to the skin and "set" the color. For bridal henna and large henna designs, we offer wrapping to protect and seal in your henna for the ultimate dark color.

The depth of the color varies from person to person and the care given to the design (chlorinated water and lotions with exfoliates or acids will shorten the life of your henna). Moisturizing each day with cocoa butter or henna balm will lengthen the life of your henna. Designs last from five days to three weeks depending on these factors (four weeks is common from our henna on soles of feet and palms!).

In addition to traditional and bridal henna, we offer colorful henna gilding, crystals and glitter, bindis, body painting and "faux tattoos" which are hand created designs using the same cosmetic products used by actors and actresses for that long lasting "real tattoo" look. Safe (and painless :-), these last several days are often popular with the guys (and for corporate logos, conventions, etc.).

Our henna artists are available to come in themed clothing (Indian themed Salwar Kameez, Gypsy theme is skirts, coins and colorful layers, Middle Eastern theme is HiJab, Abaya or Caftan) to compliment the setting of your special event.

We can help you with a range of services for your perfect event! From bellydancers and bollywood dancers to face painters, chair-massage therapists to event planners, we are happy to refer you to one of the event professionals we know will take good care of you. We want your experience to be wonderful! This is all part of our five star service and why our clients repeatedly tell us that we are "the best"!

IMPORTANT NOTE ON BLACK HENNA: There is no such thing as "black henna". Natural henna is *never* black, it is *always* brown (from light orangish brown to deep chestnut brown and dark mahogany). In fact, any color other than reddish brown is not henna. Blue, purple, yellow, green, bright red and black are not henna and should be considered suspect, possibly dangerous / toxic. If they say "their black henna lasts for 3 or more weeks", it is not henna at all. Beware of anything called "black henna". "Black henna" is never real henna. It is usually a caustic mix of PPD hair dye that can cause severe allergic and dermatological reactions, including hives, skin rash, itching, swelling, chemical burns and permanent scarring. This is the most common product used at "black henna/temporary tattoo" stands in tourist areas around the world. It is especially toxic to children. Some henna artists in the USA are told by unscrupulous employers or suppliers that these products are "harmless" and use these products for mehndi on skin. These products are outlawed in many states, yet these toxic chemicals are still found in every state in the country. It isn't worth the risk to you, us or your guests. We do not use these products. If you travel out of the USA and your trusted guide offers to take you to a "safe" black henna artist, insist on brown/red henna only! These "black" henna artists are duped into believing that chuncks of solid industrial PPD are "natural black rocks from the nile" or other myths. No matter where you go in the world, there is absolutely NO SUCH THING as "black" henna. To find out more about the dangers of so called "black" henna, visit MSNBC, WikipediaThe New Times of Broward Palm Beach or the US Food and Drug Administration. If you want the look of a "real" tattoo (black or colorful), ask about our "hollywood movie tattoos" a quick drying non-toxic sweat proof body paint that is used by actors and actresses that lasts up to a week!
